Community Safety & Well-being Plan

From September 2020 to June 2021, Oxford County municipalities engaged in an initiative, mandated by the Province of Ontario, to develop a Community Safety & Well-being Plan for municipalities across Oxford. The goal of the plan was to help address priority risks, such as mental and physical health, housing and addictions, with proactive, integrated strategies for children, youth, adults, older adults and families who live, work and participate in our communities. That plan is now complete! Visit the Safe & Well Oxford website to view the plan.

The new Event Calendar includes scheduled meeting dates, activities and community events. If you have a community event you would like added to this website, please email Kimberley Armstrong at karmstrong@norwich.ca.

Municipalities across Ontario are required to develop and approve a Community Safety and Well-being Plan as per the Police Services Act. By working collaboratively at the municipal level to tackle priority risks and needs of the community through a strategic and holistic lens, communities will be better prepared to meet current and future needs of their residents. In Oxford County, the eight municipalities of Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock, Ingersoll, Norwich, South-west Oxford, Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Zorra, chose to work in partnership to develop a joint plan that can be implemented at both a system-wide and local level.

The DEI Action Coalition was created to provide information and resources for the Community.

Oxford County and Area Municipalities have a responsibility to create a culture within their organizations that counters racism and discriminatory behaviors and practices, and to establish a community that is safe, welcoming, and accessible for all citizens and that respects their dignity and independence.
