NOTICE OF INTENTION TO AMEND A BY-LAW
UNDER SECTION 30.1(1) OF THE ONTARIO HERITAGE ACT
The Township of Norwich Council has received a request to amend the designation by-law from the owner of property located at Lot 581, Plan 955 (Village of Norwich) and municipally known as 67 Main Street West, Norwich, Township of Norwich.
Purpose and Effect of Amendment
Upon receipt of a recommendation from the Municipal Heritage Committee, Township of Norwich Council has approved proceeding to amend the by-law to facilitate the conversion of the former Knox Presbyterian Church to a licensed Child Care Centre. The proposed changes will be sympathetic to and maintain most of the identified attributes in the original Notice of Intention to Designate.
Statement of Cultural Heritage Value or Interest
The Knox Presbyterian Church is a fine example of a Gothic Revival style of architecture.

Contextual Value
This building represents a historical focal point in the community. The first congregation was established in 1849 and the present church was built in 1879. This building was continuously used as a place of worship for 145 years which attests to the strength of the congregation.

Anyone wishing to object to the amendment shall outline the reasons within a Notice of Objection. Such objection shall be submitted no later than noon on Monday April 14, 2025, to the undersigned.
