Township of Norwich working to reopen Norwich Community Centre for fall minor hockey and figure skating programs

The Township of Norwich will be reopening its Norwich Community Centre and Arena torecommence with recreation programming.

The Township Arena will begin to open, to commence with minor hockey and figure skatingprograms, with ice expected to be installed September 21st. The Township commends thesegroups on their assistance and hard work to ensure they will be able to follow all of the returnto play guidelines outlined by the governing Provincial Sports Organizations. The Townshipcontinues discussions with other groups that may also be able to utilize ice time, againfollowing return to play guidelines. Public skating will not be available at this time.

At the same time, the Township will also be able to commence with opening the NorwichCommunity Centre hall to rentals and programming commencing mid-October. As theTownship proceeds with rentals and evaluates the program, other Township communitycentres will be evaluated later in the fall for potential reopening.

Arena and Community Centre operations and programs have been modified to comply withpublic health guidelines and provincial restrictions, including physical distancing, group sizerestrictions and staggered start times.

The facilities will have enhanced cleaning protocols and health screening measures oncereopened. Masks or face coverings must be worn in all of our indoor public spaces. Weexpect these measures to remain in place throughout at least this fall.
